Overall I am fairly happy with my outcomes, as I struggled greatly to begin with to put my ideas into practise and work through certain creative obstacles, but I feel in the end I feel my images effectively convey my messages to an extent.
Today we had a group and individual crit, where we looked at both the negative and positives of our work, and how we could have improved them with more development, which was something I found very beneficial, as I have had little outside evaluation from other illustrators during this project.
In reference to the design and image, we identified that the simple design works well with the theme, as it would help to grab the attention of the reader, as they would hopefully want to learn more about the image through reading the article.
We also decided that the high contrast in tone and colour worked well to create a strong cohesive thread between all three images, and that the line work combines well with the graphic shapes to add a bit of character to the pieces whilst still maintaining the bold, political feel.
In addition, my group decided that my 200x200 piece was the most successful out of the three, as although it wasn't completely clear what the second word was, the visual impact was very strong compositionally.
However, a reoccurring issue with my set of images was the ambiguity of the meaning at times, which I feel would have been improved through more work during the roughs process, as this is where I really struggled on this task.
If I were to redo this task, I would definitely work more in different media and work in a looser style with the roughs in order to quickly communicate my ideas. Overall, I feel I struggled greatly with the creative process on this project, as I found it very difficult to find the central theme of the article, as well as finding it hard to manage my time with regards to this project, therefore I would ensure I completed simple tasks on a daily basis in order to keep on top of my creative output.
