More techniques which I explored were cross hatching and stipling with different toned pens of the same colour. I omitted the main line of these images as I wanted to see how I could use just tone to convey a whole item. I really liked this exercise as I don't often work only with tone, so this was an interesting way to work for me, as it was really out of my comfort zone. Although I struggled initially with how to compose an image solely using tone, I learnt a great deal of techniques to adding tone which I am sure I will be able to incorporate into my future practise.
