Album artwork competition

I entered the Secret 7" competition, by re-using and reworking some old work I had, simply to see how my outcomes would work in context.

It was an interesting lesson in how to quickly repurpose work, as well as how colour and hue affect the mood of an image.

I wish I had started these sooner so that I would have more original, strong images, but I still think it was a fun exercise.

Manic Street Preachers

- Focused on the 'dream' they're chasing, but will only bring isolation like a summer paradise island
- The colours and vibrancy show the perception of reality, which is far different from the truth
- The placement of the image sets a sort of scene and shows an inviting composition

Primal Scream
- Reminded me of 'sweet summer' nights
- Imagery slightly reminiscent of a cassette tape from the 80's
- The shadow inclusion mirrors a 'post it note' feel, which shows the temporality of the love in the song
- The muted tones help show a faded memory, except the vibrant red which represents the passion of the song

Jimi Hendrix
- melancholic tone
- good to reuse work which I didn't actually apply at the end
- use of space creates solemn feel
- Small item in centre creates feel of lonliness
