Responsive- Papyrus Submission

I finally submitted to a live brief!

It's weird, I was really nervous to press send, even though this isn't a competition as such, as they simply want to collect drawings from people with different viewpoints and styles- I wonder whether mine will be published in their book!

FINAL IMAGE:

ACCOMPANYING STATEMENT:
-  I started knitting when I was going through a tough time, and I find it the most immensely relaxing hobby. I find it inspiring and calming to see what I can create with such small, seemingly insignificant actions, which all build up to work together to create something both useful and beautiful

PROCESS:
- Started by asking a friend to take photographs of me whilst I was knitting
- Also looked at a jumper I was wearing at the time
- Sketched out the layout and form before firmly restating the lines with pencil
- Used the light box to trace
- Scanned in image and used photoshop to neaten it up

POSITIVES:
- Once I understood the form of the knitting it was fairly simple as long as I followed the length of wool to ensure I got the construction right
- I actually found it really relaxing to repetitively draw and construct something fairly simple, but complex in structure, which I suppose is what the brief was about!
- I accidentally had the wool bunching up in the middle, but I think this actually works well to add a 3D form to it

NEGATIVES:
- Immediately after pressing send I started to see flaws with it, especially the form of the hands! One looks too long and the other too short!
- I perhaps should have added slight detail to the wool exiting the page to make it less ambiguous
- In some areas I went slightly wrong, and although I corrected it on photoshop, they are still evident, I should have spent a little more time ensuring it was precise during my drawing

What have I learnt?
- Always thoroughly check images before submitting
- Try things which are close to my heart, even though it's really simple, this is the most personal project I have done this year, as it's a charity close to my heart and with the intent that I could possibly make a small difference to some peoples lives, which is amazing
- To take my time on the final creation, don't rush to have it done quickly
