I see faces- Character artist research

Through looking at other practitioners work I have been able to see how characters can be developed in diverse and interesting ways. I also found some similarities between these two illustrators and my work, as in Yutaka's work the negative space is really used well to add character to his pieces, which is what I have begun to try and experiment with also, especially in my bear drawings.

What makes them successful:
- Repeated drawings ensure a playful yet simple character is created
- Simple colour scheme- only three in Bailey's, one in Yutaka's- grounds them and ensures they aren't too busy
- Movement very evident in specific parts of the drawings, such as altering monkey forms and hair on girl

What has this taught me:
- Draw the same character over and over again to see how they naturally develop
- Think about simple movement and how to portray this through line of sight
- Don't go too overboard in content and colour, small and simple works just as well
