To explore how composition can alter the relationship between objects on a page and place importance on certain aspects.
Thinking about tone and colour contrast as well as scale |
Deciding on placement to tell the best narrative |
Fine tuning scale to fit the frame |
Playing with cropping to get appropriate scale |
Final outcome from roughs |
Because it is something I have been struggling with, I wanted to play around with developing a narrative in a single frame, so I decided to create the story of a woman loosing her keys, as it is something everyone has experienced and is easily identifiable.
Evaluation
Although I don't particularly like the aesthetic of my final piece, I found this a very useful exercise in thinking about composition, as I was able to explore how I could draw attention to certain aspects of the piece through their scale and placement. Overall I think my final composition is very successful in creating a narrative of a woman loosing her keys, which is what I really wanted to do in this piece.
Questions
How can I consider composition as a tool for narrative in my future work?
Could I have used other media, such as cut paper for my final outcome?
