This project was an exercise to link our ongoing theory on image making with more complex processes, in this case depth and line with screen printing

Intent:
My intent for my piece was to add humour to my subject of the Great British Bake Off through adding silly text alongside the simple characters
Evaluation:
Overall I'm not too pleased with my final outcome, especially since I had problems lining the prints up because the frame wasn't tightened enough so kept slipping, which we didn't realise until later on, after we had struggled to line them up using the koda trace.
I struggled with creating imagery for this task, especially whilst trying to keep depth in mind, and although there is slight depth from the bunting in the background, I feel I could have done a better job at following the brief. However I still found this brief helpful as working with these constraints and trying to develop imagery which would work as a screen print has taught me a great deal.
I also like how I have used colours as I think they are very reminiscent of the GBBO and work well together by not fighting each other, I also like how they work when overlapped as the third colour adds another element
Questions:
Could I have simplified my imagery further to make more stylised faces?
Could I have made use of block colour more?
Chris Simpson:
I really wanted to imbue the simplistic, quite 'bad' feel of Simpson's work into my piece, as I wanted to explore different ways of adding humour to my work.
Although I feel I did make a quite humorous outcome, I think with more time I would have been able to develop more of a narrative which linked the text to the image more.
